Rocca 5 Vite Rosso Puglia IGT

At the end of XIX century, Francesco Rocca started his historical business by bulk wine. In 1936 his son Angelo enhanced the wine production and built up a cellar in Nardò, Apulia. In the 1960’s, Ernesto Rocca, Angelo’s son, bought the first bottling line and started the distribution of products under the Rocca brand. In 1999, infatuated with Apulia and vines, he bought a farm in Leverano, in the heart of Salento.

In 2009, Rocca Family becomes the major shareholder of the historical winery Dezzani in Piedmont realizing new commercial and productive synergies. Paolo, Marco, Luca and Matteo (Ernesto’s sons), sharing duties and responsibilities, run the family’s business, which includes also a building company and a leading trot horse stud farm.

“5 VITE” stands out for its extraordinary harmonious taste resulting from the complementarity of each grape varieties: the soft elegant tannins of Negroamaro, the dense texture of Nero di Troia and the delicate aroma of Malvasia Nera, blend perfectly with the authentic fruitness of Primitivo and  the aromatic intensity of Susumaniello.

Vigneti del Vulture Canio Aglianico del Vulture DOC

2021

Vigneti del Vulture Canio Aglianico del Vulture DOC

In the Vulture area, the climate is continental with cold, rainy winters and summers cooled by the Balkan breezes. Here the climatic conditions and high altitude create an incredible temperature range that, together with the volcanic soils, rich in potassium and minerals, give the wines freshness, flavour and a unique character.

The Vigneti del Vulture winery is in the small town of Acerenza, a vast area dominated by the austere profile of Monte Vulture, a volcano, no longer active, that, with its eruptions has contaminated the soil of an extraordinary minerality. The vineyards are longer living than the average, robust and resistant to drought and are able to transfer a unique character to the wine. The vines have struggled for millennia to adapt to this ground and in fact, even today, varieties such as Aglianico and Greco have shown that in these extreme conditions they can produce fruit of an unbeatable quality and extraordinary personality.
